SEF Welcome

SUMMIT EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION:  ENDOWMENT FUND LAUNCHED

For the last 25 years, SEF has focused on encouraging creativity and innovation in our schools through funding countless teacher and district grants.  SEF has relied on annual appeals to support these grants and the community has responded generously as last year SEF invested over $400,000 in educational programming.

In an ambitious extension of its mission, SEF launches the Endowment Fund, a permanent, self-sustaining, multi-million dollar endowment to ensure the fiscal stability and future excellence of Summit’s public schools.  The Endowment Fund running in tandem with the Annual Fund will provide two funding sources for programming in our schools.

The Annual Fund:
To encourage and fund teacher- and
district-initiated programs and grants that advance the curriculum and district objectives.

The Endowment Fund:
To secure funding for strategic long-term initiatives critical to the health of the district and to its ability to provide an excellent educational experience for its students.

Our State’s changing economic landscape calls for forward thinking and a way to ensure we have future funding to develop new curriculum initiatives and provide professional development to meet the needs of our 21st century learners.  The initial goal of the endowment is to raise a principal amount of $5 million, which could prudently generate $250,000 a year in expendable income to support the Summit Public Schools.  With over $3.5 million in secured pledges, we look to the next year as an opportunity to share our goals, build on our momentum, and garner the widespread support of Summit residents.

On Friday, October 1st, SEF launched an Endowment Fund, a multi-million dollar endowment to ensure the fiscal stability and future excellence of Summit’s public schools.  The launch, hosted by Claremont Realty Group, was an opportunity to thank early supporters and publically kick-off the campaign.  With initial pledges of over $3.5 million, fundraising efforts will continue to reach the $5 million goal.
